Sol 0: Electric landing on Mars
Today is a great day. After one year of preparation, several months of hard work, one week of scientific outreach in New-York, it’s the entry day for the Crew 311.
After we landed on Mars in the beginning of the afternoon, the whole crew started to install their personal items in their little bedrooms of the upper deck, first floor of our main habitat. This area is very tiny! It is optimized such as one room possesses a bed above another one from the next room. While we were installing, we got so many electrical discharges, planet Mars welcomes us eventfully!
The whole crew was trained to use different modules of the station. Everything was made to save resources, even the toilets! After that, we discovered the lower deck, where the EVA suits are stored. They are intended for our future extravehicular activities, and we tried them on. We also visited the green hab, i.e. the station greenhouse, essential to produce our own fresh products, the RAM, the crew engineer place that is used to repair all of the stuff, and finally the science dome, the module where we will mainly apply the scientific experiments.
After that, we learnt how to drive the rovers used during the EVA. This evening, the different crew members are checking all their assigned equipment.
Today was the last day we could breathe fresh air. Since tomorrow morning, will be the last time we go out for a duration of a month, Robin and Quentin took advantage of the evening to observe the station during the night, a picture to which we will not have access during the simulation.
